The Lombe Silk Mill
The Lombe Silk Mill in Derby, England, was the first silk mill in Britian. Built between 1717 and 1721 for the Lombe brothers John and Thomas, it housed machinery for “doubling” (or twisting) silk into thread.
Now it is the Derby Industrial Museum, a museum of the history of industry.
